tho-Phthaldehyde
o-Phthalaldehyde or ortho-phthalaldehyde (OPA) is widely used as a high-level disinfectant for medical devices (such as instruments). Usually disinfection with OPA is indicated for disinfecting semi-critical instruments such as specula, laryngeal mirrors and internal ultrasound probes that come into contact with mucous membranes or broken skin. Recent studies have shown OPA to be effective against glutaraldehyde resistant mycobacteria and that it is a viable alternative to glutaraldehyde for high level disinfection.

General solution strength is 0.5% when used as a bactericidal solution.

LifeSADX supplies test strips to verify the activity level of OPA solution.

Test-it™ OPA Strips (OPA001) – 50 strips per container
